TALK SHOW wants to investigate the impact of slapstick stunts on verbal performance. Miet Warlop invited Hilde D’haeyere to add words to her visual work and to observe how the mix derails. Visual actions demonstrate, undermine, and vitalise the academic analysis of slapstick motives, such as the vulnerability of the stunt performer, the overwhelming disaster, vernacular comedy, and the culture of the quick change. By combining visual performance with an academic approach, TALK SHOW wants to celebrate the influence of information on action, and of performance on analysis. But it is to be expected that clumsy virtuosity and magical tricks might change each performance into a dangerously tragic action. Let’s start falling.
